Day works hours, backed up with photos

You book the hours in on your invoice. A couple of days later the phone goes: your hours look a bit high, can you tell me why you've booked that many?

Most of the time you explain and it gets paid. Sometimes it doesn't, and hours get knocked off per man.

A photo when you start, a photo when you finish

When something unexpected comes up, like a kerb repair or sorting stone levels out, take a photo in SiteSnap as you start and another when you're done. Both carry the time they were taken, and both are filed to the site and plot the work was on.

More on that: how SiteSnap files work photos by site and plot.

Put the details on the photo

Add a note in the photo's description saying what the job was and how many of you were on it, like “Kerb repair, 3 men”. It's there with the times when you need it.

Something to show, not just something to say

When the call comes, you're not going from memory. Open the site, open the plot, and the start and finish photos are there with their times. If they want to see for themselves, send them a share link to the plot's photos. They don't need the app.

Day works is one part of the week: see how a paving gang uses SiteSnap week to week.

Why I do it

Most of my day works get paid once I've explained them. But I've had hours knocked down per man before, with nothing to show for it. I haven't needed the photos yet, but when that call comes, they're there.
